CAIRO. March 13. KAZINFORM. - Egypt will import 14 million tonnes of Kazakhstan’s wheat a year at a competitive price, Egyptian presidential spokesman Suleiman Awad said on Tuesday.
He pointed out that the relevant contract would be signed during Kazakh President Nursultan NazarbayevТs ongoing visit to Cairo.
Awad said the two countries have already inked agreements on bilateral trade, on the creation of the Egyptian-Kazakh business council, on cooperation in the fight against terrorism and organized crime and in education and research.
Egypt and Kazakhstan also reached an agreement on joint reconstruction of the Mosque of Sultan Baibars – the Mamluk governor of Egypt and Syria in the 13th century, who had Kazakh roots.
After the talks with Nazarbayev Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak instructed Trade and Industry Minister Rashid Mohamed Rashid to lead a business delegation to Astana in April.
Kazakhstan addressed Egypt with a request to open regular flights of Egypt Air to Astana and Almaty, Kazinform quotes Itar-Tass.
