Kazakhstan Temir Zholy will purchase rolling stock
WARSAW. March 15. KAZINFORM. Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways) is to invest $ 3bln to purchase rolling stock.
"We are to purchase 600 locomotives for $2 bln 200 mln. We also will bye 15 thousand of freight wagons for $ 1 bln , Erlan Atamkulov, president of the company, said.
The investment program will operate till 2011. It includes annual $ 1 bln investments. Money will be used to modernize mainline railway lines, to renovate rolling stock and to reconstruction of divisions of railway lines.
Some of the subsidiaries of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy will probably hold IPO in 2007. The companies are KedenTransService, KazTransService and LocomotiveService.
Kazakhstan Temir Zholy increased throughput by 10.6% year-on year to 29.3 bln tonne per kilometer in January-February, Kazinform quotes Railway Market Magazine, Poland.
Loading of freights increased by 10.4% to 35.4 mln tons; daily capacity of freight wagons increased by 3.2%, reports Interfax.
