Kazakh Government held a sitting on power industry development

ASTANA. March 15. KAZINFORM. Today Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov has chaired a meeting on the development of the country's power and gas industries, the Premier’s press service informs. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Baktykozha Izmukhambetov delivered a keynote address on the action plan for the Kazakh electric power industry development until 2015. "It foresees reconstruction of the current and commissioning of new generating capacities during 2007-2015. However, some regions of Kazakhstan are incurring definite power deficit owing to the wear and tear of the equipment," he stressed. "As per January 1, 2006, the country extracted around 27 bln cu m of gas," the Minister added. Following the results of the session Mr Massimov has ordered deputy PM, Economy and Budget Planning Minister Aslan Mussin to form and head two working groups to complete and submit a report on measures for the power industry development.
