Minister of Agriculture: Necessary to diversify crop fields ASTANA. November 9. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Grain production in Kazakhstan should be diversified, Minister of Agriculture Akhylbek Kurishbayev has said at the Governmental Hour in the Majilis today. According to the Minister, ratio of crops in the country's crop rotation makes 87% while this figure should not exceed 50-60%. "The major challenge of the sector is diversification of grain production. On one hand it will allow us to reach stability in export supply of agricultural products and ensure internal demand of the country. On the other hand it will create conditions for preservation of crop rotation and soil fertility. Alongside we must have a clear picture of that the problem can not be resolved due to administrative measures only, without formation of a demand for a certain type of crop", the Minister said. He also noted that diversification of the structure of crop areas must be considered together with the measures of state regulation and development of stockbreeding in the republic.
