There are no reasons for rise of sugar prices in home market of Kazakhstan - Agriculture Ministry

Astana. February 28. Kazakhstan Today - The Ministry of Agriculture assures that there are no reasons for rise in prices for sugar in the domestic market of Kazakhstan, the press release of the Ministry of Agriculture, explaining the decision accepted by the government on introduction of quotas on import of white sugar, states. "There are no reasons for rise in prices for sugar in domestic market of Kazakhstan," the press release states. The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan emphasize that "the CIS countries have either introduced ban, or made changes to the mode of import of white sugar made from sugar-raw to protect the domestic market." Thus, "fees have been imposed on production beyond quota, restricting the access to the Russian market." As it was informed earlier, on February, 26, 2008 the government adopted the decree On introduction of quantitative restrictions on import of separate types of goods, providing introduction of temporary quotas on import of white sugar and their distribution between the legal entities for the term of untill October 1st, 2008. The decree was accepted to stimulate and support domestic agricultural producers in this branch, as well as as protective measures for the domestic market.
